Ok… hold the hairdryer, EdwardsAndCo Mecca Manes has levelled up! In 2021 EdwardsAndCo launched their 9th salon, a Blow Dry Bar on the basement level at Mecca Manes, Market St in Sydney and it has been so successful that it sparked a comprehensive hair salon – elevating them to Level 1. Embellished with bright orange, pops of purple and luxurious high ceilings and windows that show off Market and George St below – Sustainable Salons x EdwardsAndCo has never looked better. They now offer services beyond Jaye Edwards 7 key looks from the Mane Menu, including, full colour, cut and styling services – a match made in heaven for the ever growing empire and reputation that is EdwardsAndCo.

EdwardsAndCo joined Sustainable Salons back in 2017, and as a long standing member, we decided it was only fitting to sit down with Jaye Edwards himself for a chat about sustainability in the hair game, we also took a walk around their new iconic space as the team at EdwardsAndCo Mecca Manes underwent their Sustainable Salons in-salon training.

Jaye Edwards:

With the launch of their Sydney flagship, Mecca placed a huge focus on the service side of their business. I have always pushed the boundaries to ensure EdwardsAndCo is the leader in Australian Hair, so having the chance to become a service partner with the leader in Australian Beauty was incredible.

Jaye Edwards:

We launched as a blow dry bar in 2021 on the basement level, the space has gone from strength to strength. This has allowed us to expand the offering and move our salon up to level 1. Elevating the space after just one year is an amazing feeling. At its heart, EdwardsAndCo is a colour salon, so being able to bring our signature “Future-Proof Colour” to the space is an exciting next step.

Jaye Edwards:

At EdwardsAndCo, our clients are conscious consumers, so being able to tell them that we are a Sustainable Salon helps us to develop more meaningful relationships with them. From a business sense, Sustainable Salons offers a rewards system that we can use to purchase sustainable products and salon supplies, which is an amazing support for us.

I love the updates we received from team SSANZ. It’s amazing to hear all the good that has come from salon waste, like hair from cutting appointments that has been used to create Hair Booms to help clean up oil spills or to make wigs for those suffering the side effects of cancer treatments or alopecia. I love passing these stories on to our clients and letting them know we are doing our part.

To me, sustainability means meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Sustainable Salon, EdwardsAndCo’s new comprehensive hair salon, Mecca Manes is the place to be, stocking Jaye Edwards’ own full product line Jaye Haircare, they are open from Tuesday – Saturday, including your must have late Thursdays to accommodate those late night shoppers. Not only are their signature services uber-cool and offensively chic, EdwardsAndCo are at the forefront of sustainability for the hairdressing industry, operating out of the largest ever beauty store in the southern hemisphere, they are opening up the conversation between staff and clientele, sharing sustainable stories, educating and inspiring change for good.
